Call for Papers

We are pleased to announce that the Department of Romance
Literature will be hosting its First Virtual Congress
between March 28th and April 1st, 2005.
The symposium will cover Rhetoric as its main theme.

This Virtual Congress is intended to allow for reflection
and the exchange of ideas and input to take place without
the drawbacks of actual physical presence and the
inconveniences of traveling for those participating.
In doing so, the aim is to gather within a pleasant
environment people from all over the world and from
all areas of knowledge and background who have been
contributing to the notion of Rhetoric as a subject
or who have used it as a tool in the past.

Papers from participants will be posted online for a
period of one week. Throughout the week of the congress
and the following two weeks, the Congress Organizing
Committee will then gather all input, feedback and
comments submitted for all works available, to which
each of the authors will have the chance to respond.

The gathering will take place daily, starting with
the participation of experts in areas such as
literature, theory of literature, treaty studies,
law, philosophy and theology.

Those interested in submitting works can send in an
abstract of their paper (in either Portuguese or
English) along with their personal information to
the following email address:

The papers can be submitted in English, Portuguese,
French, Italian, or Spanish.
